Lately, I have felt this heaviness on my heart and the things I pursue. There have been several times in life where I have felt Satan trying to hold me back or stop me.
Years ago, I would have maybe thought it was God… Maybe God doesn’t like me, maybe God doesn’t approve of what I am trying to pursue?
However, now that I am reading God’s Word every day I know that is Satan. Satan likes to whisper lies in our thoughts to make God the enemy. So we fight against God and His plan.
Truthfully, we don’t have to be afraid of Satan and his schemes because even everything Satan does plays into God’s promised plan for creation. (How amazing is that?! – he doesn’t even know…)
So whether you feel as though Satan is knocking at your door at work, in your marriage, in parenting, at school or with your in-laws, you can rest in faith that God’s plan will combat Satan.
10 Verses when Satan is knocking at your door
1. Father of lies: John 8:44
He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
So often when I am feeling like Satan is knocking at my door, I can hear his lies in my own thoughts.
I have doubt; I am impatient and I start to question God’s plan. Exactly as Satan wants me to. When something awful has happened, it is easy to run from His Light and hideaway in the darkness.
However, I am reminded of who lives in the darkness. God, my Father, reminds me of His love and that I must cling to Him, even when life’s course doesn’t go as I had hoped.
2. Armor Against SataN: Ephesians 6:10-18
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
There is no running away from spiritual warfare… It seeks you. Use your full armor of God to fight Satan with the Holy Spirit.
3. the victory: Revelation 20:10
And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Wooooooop! Bye Satan, not gonna miss you.
Just remember, his days are numbered. Yours don’t have to be. Trust Jesus.

4. Stephen’s Story: Acts 7:54-56
So, just a little back story, as this is not a well known Bible story…
Stephen is courageously sharing about Jesus, even after the members of the Sanhedrin have asked him to stop. Not that long ago, they had hung Jesus and they don’t want to hear about how He is the Savior.
When the members of the Sanhedrin heard this, they were furious and gnashed their teeth at him. But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. “Look,” he said, “I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.”
I have no idea how this story isn’t in every children’s Bible storybooks, but it is SO inspiring. Stephen’s story doesn’t end as victoriously as David’s does against Goliath, but it is just as worthy of a children’s Bible story!
Stephen is stoned to death and his last words are praying God forgives the people.
I pray God gives me Stephen’s courage!
5. When satan is knocking at your door: matthew 16:18
And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.
Sometimes, with running a Christian blog, I can feel Satan trying to hold me down and stop me in my tracks. However, God has bigger plans and He is stronger. I am grateful that He makes a Way for me.
So if you are feeling this way in your quest for Christ, keep on keeping on, sister!
6. 2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
I love that God is telling me that I can be weak, sometimes even pitiful, and still wonderfully useful in Christ!
7. When Satan is knocking at your door: 1 Corinthians 15:58
Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
We all have days where it is hard to “stand firm.” I have to remind myself when Satan is trying to hold me back that God is always with me. Right beside me!
I try to actually imagine Him sitting right next to me at that moment and then I don’t feel as isolated or incapable.
8. 1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
Even though Satan is trying to hold you down, God says YOU ARE HIS CHOSEN!
9. jEREMIAH 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
This verse is for when Satan tries to tell you that God “allowed” something bad to happen in your life.
God has promised us that this world will be full of heartbreak and sorrow, as it is filled with sin. However, God is not.
10. 1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
A lot of times when I am tempted by sin, I think to myself, “Ugh, there is no way I can do the right thing…” Thankfully for all of us, God provides a way if we look beyond our sinful selves.
