How Can God Use Me?

I am not that great of a Christian… There are a lot of other people who know more scripture than I do. I am sure they could share the Gospel with unbelievers better than I could, because what would I say? Since I am an introvert, I don’t feel comfortable reaching out to new people. Everyone I know is saved. So, how can God use me?

Does this sound familiar?

How God can use people to share the Good News, even as an introvert.

don’t mind me while I think of all of the excuses I can

I have given myself probably a million ways to NOT have to be welcoming to someone or share about Jesus with someone who is miserable. There would probably be a full book of them.

Satan wants us to be stuck in the “I’m too new of a Christian” phase for life, so we are useless to God. The fewer believers the more powerful he feels.

Little does he know, everything that happens actually plays into God’s divine plan!

I really want to share but how can God use me?

Thinking about sharing the Gospel or about Jesus with someone was enough to make my pits sweat, like immediately.

I know that God is one of those hot button topics that you don’t bring up with people you know probably don’t agree with you… just like politics. God, it would be so easy for me to just steer clear. You are powerful, can’t you find a way to reach this person without using me?

There is a song that always stops me in my tracks. It is Do Something by Matthew West. The lyrics that get me:

‘Well, I just couldn’t bear the thought of people living in poverty, children sold into slavery, the thought disgusted me. So, I shook my fist at Heaven, said, “God, why don’t You do something?” He said, “I did, yeah, I created you”‘

God will use you as you are

Maybe you or I don’t know a lot of Scripture, but we do know enough about Him that it changed our lives. So, we can share our own stories, or testimony.

God has given us all an interesting route to Him. Even if you’ve always grown up in a Christian home, you’ve had your own journey from sin to Christ.

An awesome part of about being saved is that God will use anything that you do for Him for His glory!

So, even if sharing your testimony with someone doesn’t bring them to Christ now, it might plant the seed. Or maybe you sharing your testimony will inspire someone else to share theirs. God always has a reason for the work He is inspiring in you.

How Can God Use Me?

Whenever I think of sharing the Gospel, I think of this profound moment where someone has like a light bulb turning on experience. However, sharing the Good News with someone isn’t necessarily this sit down, intense chat….

Sometimes, it is our smile at someone on a bad day, a prayer they overheard you saying or saw you praying before your meal at a restaurant. Maybe it was a gesture they saw you give. Or your tithes helped reach someone in a foreign country.

There are so many ways we can be the hands and feet of Jesus! Which is exciting news to us introverts – Amen?!

I love that God uses anything that I hand over to Him for good.

But What If I’m Still Scared?

Satan tries to tell us that we aren’t good enough to share with others about Jesus. He tries to say that we should be intimidated because we don’t know enough or because we only feel comfortable sharing with a certain age group of people.

A gal in my Bible study class this week shared that she feels as though she’s only comfortable sharing with little kids. It feels safe. But maybe that is who God made her to share with! I say embrace it sister!

The more we share with ANYONE, the more practice we are getting for sharing with EVERYONE.

For me, I don’t personally gravitate towards sharing with children. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I share about Jesus with my own children, but I don’t sign up as a Sunday School teacher at my church, because that isn’t my forte or my calling.

What would I even share?

How will I prepare to share?

Pray… First, pray for the person you’re going to share with. Pray that God gives you courage to take the opportunity to put yourself out there. Ask God to prepare your heart for the day you meet your person.

Look for opportunities – maybe it will be with a stranger. Or a friend who is heartbroken. Maybe it will be your mother or father… Only God knows. ????

How can God use me?

In conclusion, God has an awesome use for you! Your story and your journey to Christ will be so important for someone to hear one day.

Awesome God,

Fill my friend with your Holy Spirit so she has the words to say and the courage to share! You have given her an awesome journey to You. Help her to have confidence in sharing the Gospel with the person You intend for her to share with. Amen!

  1. Love this, Jenna! I go through ALL the excuses because I’m afraid of the awkwardness and of being rejected. But I’ve been reminding myself that, like you said, sharing the gospel doesn’t always have to be this intense conversation. We can just share our stories — there’s a reason God gave them to us! And people would much rather hear about our personal lives than hear us rattle off a bunch of Bible verses. Of course, God’s truth doesn’t return void, but there’s something to simply sharing our stories, I think, that can draw people in to listen. Thanks for this encouraging post!

  2. Love this! I’m very introverted but I have a heart to help people and I want to share the Gospel with them. It’s really hard for me, but I know God wants me to. These are really great tips to think about! Thanks!
