We are living in a period where the End Times feel very near. The political unrest, contagious disease, and fires have completely changed our normal daily lives as we know it. The Bible mentions what the End Times will look like before and after the Church is raptured, but it is the only part of the Bible that is yet to come! It really feels like uncharted territory… So here are 15 Bible Verses when you are scared of the End Times.

But first, What are the end times?

The End Times refer to the period after the Rapture of the Church and before, during, and after the 7 years of Tribulation. The time after Jesus returns to the earth for His Church and defeats Satan. This will be the end of the world on earth as we know it. Believers in Jesus Christ will rejoice in heaven. Unbelievers and Satan will be banished to hell.

What is the rapture?

Rapture comes from the Latin word Rapturo. Rapturo means “caught up”.

What does this mean? The Savior, Jesus Christ, is going to come back for His Church, His believers, and they will be caught up with Him in the clouds. They will be saved from the Tribulation that is to come. The Tribulation will be experienced by all those who have not accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior, at the time He returns for His Church.

…then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. So we will be with the Lord forever. 1 Thessalonians 4:17 WEB

What is the tribulation?

The Great Tribulation, as mentioned in the Bible, is a period of great hardships and suffering.

In Revelation, it is revealed that there will be a period of 7 years of suffering on earth. Those who are left on the earth will endure terrible times.

So, will anyone be saved during the 7 years of Tribulation?

What will happen during the Tribulation?

It is promised in Revelation 6 that Jesus, the Lamb, will open the seven seals. (Please see Revelation 6 to learn more about each seal.) In Revelation 7, it tells us that 144,000 people from every tribe of Israel are saved! 12,000 people from each of the 12 tribes of Israel…

Next, seven trumpets sound, one at a time, and bring judgement to those still on earth. Each one bringing more death and suffering. The seventh being the most severe. These times will have greater devastation than we have never seen before, for example, fire, darkness, one-world government, earthquakes, famine, one-world religion, etc.

If you’re a parent, it is easy to watch the news and grow frightened about what the future for our children will look like. To worry about them being hurt by wicked people. To be honest, I stopped watching the news a long time ago and decided to crack open my Bible every day instead. God can prepare our hearts for the future more than the news can!

Fortunately, God has given His believers hope as we head toward the Rapture in His Word! He shares what is to come. This summer, I wanted to understand as much about the book of Revelation as God would unveil to me. So, I read the book again, listened to as many sermons as I could, and ordered a book called A Non-Prophet’s Guide to the End Times and Israel: God’s Alarm Clock (booklet).

I just wanted all the Revelation knowledge God felt I was ready to absorb. If you are dreading/scared/worried about the End Times, I highly recommend immersing yourself in Revelation! You will find that the more you learn, the more you are looking forward to Christ’s return. (gasp) ????????????????

But I am scared of the Tribulation…

If you believe Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior, you will be excited to hear that the Church is not mentioned in the 7 years of Tribulation. Wait, what?

What does the tribulation mean for the church?

Many believe the Church is raptured before the 7 years of Tribulation!!

Then, later in Revelation, the Church helps Jesus Christ in His 1,000-year reign. This is the Millenium.

What does this mean?

It means that Jesus Christ will return to earth and be the sole Leader of the world for 1,000 years before ultimately defeating Satan. During this time, people on earth will still have free will to choose to follow Him or continue to be unsaved.

How to know if the end times are near?

Did you know even the Son of God doesn’t know the day or time He will return?! It is a grand surprise for everyone, except God the Father. (Matthew 24:36)

Using Scripture when you are afraid to understand the end times

We praise an awesome God who gave us a special gift: His Word. His Word is alive and is True. Without studying His Word, we have no way to navigate the End Times.
